FRSC Detains 51 Traffic Offenders During Eid Patrols

June 1, 2026 - 3 views

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Akwa Ibom has reported the arrest of 51 traffic offenders during its special patrol operations over the Eid-el-Kabir weekend. This initiative aimed to enhance road safety and ensure compliance with traffic regulations during the busy holiday period.

In a statement released by the Akwa Ibom Command, the FRSC emphasized the importance of adhering to traffic laws, particularly during festive seasons when road usage typically increases. Corporal Adeyemo Abiola, the sector commander, noted that the operation was part of their ongoing efforts to reduce road accidents and fatalities.

Focus on Road Safety

The FRSC has been proactive in enforcing traffic rules, especially during high-traffic periods like holidays. The recent arrests were made through a series of checkpoints strategically placed across the state, where officers conducted thorough checks on vehicles and drivers.

During the operation, a variety of offenses were recorded, including driving without a valid license, overloading, and failure to use seat belts. The FRSC has reiterated that these measures are crucial for protecting lives and property on Nigerian roads.

Public Awareness Campaigns

In addition to enforcement, the FRSC has also been engaged in public awareness campaigns aimed at educating road users about safe driving practices. These initiatives are designed to foster a culture of road safety and compliance with traffic laws among Nigerian motorists.

With the festive season already in full swing, the FRSC encourages all road users to be vigilant and exercise caution while driving. They remind the public that adherence to traffic regulations is not only a legal obligation but also a personal responsibility to ensure the safety of themselves and others.

The FRSC plans to continue its patrol operations and urges all drivers to cooperate with law enforcement agencies to make Nigerian roads safer for everyone.
