Uzor Arukwe on ‘Love In Every Word’: The Role I Didn’t Want Became a Viral Hit”

April 23, 2025 - 3 views

In an unexpected twist of fate, Nollywood actor Uzor Arukwe has revealed that his latest breakout role in Love In Every Word was one he initially wanted nothing to do with.

Speaking candidly, Arukwe said, “Before I acted in ‘Love In Every Word’, I had already told my manager I wasn’t doing any Igbo-accented character again.” The actor, known for his versatility, had seemingly drawn a line—ready to explore different narratives and characters outside the regional mold he’d often been cast in.

But fate had other plans.

“The next thing, my manager calls me and he’s like: ‘There’s an Igbo-accented character role for you, Arukwe. It’s going to bring in a lot of money. Just do it.’” Despite his initial hesitation, Arukwe gave in to the persuasion, though not without reservations.

“When I got on set, everyone was like: ‘Arukwe, we know you don’t like this role but please make it work.’” With quiet reluctance and professional resolve, he delivered the performance—never expecting the whirlwind that would follow.

“After the movie was released, the next thing I’m hearing, the movie just took off. I’m still shocked how ‘Love In Every Word’ went so viral. I didn’t even like the movie. There was no PR. Nothing. It’s all grace!” he added, clearly still processing the unexpected success.

The story of Love In Every Word is now more than just another Nollywood hit; it’s a reminder that sometimes, the roles we resist the most are the ones that launch us into new levels. And for Uzor Arukwe, it’s a testament to grace—and the unpredictable magic of film.

A Facebook page made a publication on this and stated thus:

But then the next thing, my manager calls me and he's like: 'There's an Igbo accented character role for you Arukwe, it's gonna bring in alot of money, just do it.' And when I got on set everyone was just like: 'Arukwe, we know you don't like this role but please make it work.'

And after the movie was released, the next thing I'm hearing the movie just took off. I am still shocked how 'Love In Every Word' went so viral because I didn't even like the movie. There was no PR for that movie. It's all GRACE! 🙏🏾
